Concept

With the sudden increase of purification cases and especially volume of insulin, insulin analogs, GLP-1 and GLP-1 analogs new challenge arose. All these new peptides aggregate, fibrillate and therefore fouling the column used for their purification. Aggressive cleaning, regeneration of the silica is necessary to maintain process economy (CIP: Cleaning In Place)
Traditionally CIP is performed using very high pH NaOH solution which weakens the silica particles.
To answer the new challenge, we had to develop the strong pH resistant new silica family that adds mechanical stability for longer silica lifetime.
The PK silica family is the ultimate tool for purifying GLP-1s (aggregating/fibrillating peptides).
